Rig Mats and Swamp mats increase drilling season

Rig Mats are temporary road systems used by drilling companies to extend the drilling season and to protect the environment from heavy equipment damage. In Canada and Alaska there are more oil reserves than the middle east. Rig mats are made with an outer steel frame and cross members of 6 inch I beams. Wood is installed crosswise in between the steel frame.

The average life of a Rig Mat is 10 years, but many have continued to be active for 15-20 years. Construction of our Rig Mat is similar to glulam beams; two wood sections are continuous from end to end. Our rig mats consist of two continuous wood sections with laminations glued and nailed together.

Mat 10 can be assembled in a length and width suitable for the appropriate intended use. For example, mat 10 can be made from planks that have a width or diameter of about 3 inches to about 8 inches and a length of about 3 feet to about 25 feet as needed. Matiere is also one of France’s major steel fabricators. The Unibridge Division was created ten years ago to extend the range of available products into standardised steel bridges.

All Terrain Road Mats are the answer to the access challenge for the oil and gas industry. All Terrain Road™ allows access to sites through the “shoulder” seasons—before winter’s hard freeze and in early spring, and throughout the year.

We have combined technology from the aerospace industry with Fluoro-Seal’s surface-modification process to build the world’s lightest weight, most rigid portable road surface.
